Still time to sign up for Wolverhampton City Marathon Events

There's just over a week left to register online for this year's Carver Wolverhampton City Marathon Events.

The traditional 26 mile Carver Wolverhampton Marathon, Carver half marathon, Banks's 10k run, Cousins 20k and 10k Cycle and wheelchair events, Callprint Walk in the Park and children's mini marathon take place on Sunday 3 September - and the online deadline for entries is Saturday 26 August.

All the events start and finish at West Park, and all proceeds will go to Compton Hospice, Samaritans Wolverhampton, Sunnyside Kennels Coven and the Mayor of Wolverhampton's chosen charities.

Carver Wolverhampton City Marathon Events chair Mary Harding said: "This year's Carver Wolverhampton Marathon Events are set to be the biggest and best yet, and if you want to be part of it there's still time to sign up.

"The events appeal to so many different people, with something for everyone, whether you are young or old, sporty or not. As well as running, you can also hop on your bike or enjoy a walk around West Park."

Councillor Paul Sweet, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said: "As someone who has competed in the last 2 editions of the Carver Wolverhampton City Marathon Events, I can testify to it being a fantastic occasion and a great way to both get in shape and raise money for some very worthwhile causes.

"I would encourage anyone who is thinking about taking part to sign up as soon as possible and give it a go."

The City of Wolverhampton Council's leisure centres, WV Active, are backing the Children's Mini Marathon, with the 250 participants each receiving a WV Active goody bag as they cross the finish line.

Health and fitness instructors from WV Active will be holding a warm up in West Park before the events begin, and all participants can visit WV Active Central immediately afterwards to enjoy a free swim and make use of the showers.
