Pinfold Bridge, Wednesfield Centre to re-open to traffic following essential upgrade work

The Council is pleased to confirm that reconstruction of Pinfold Bridge in Wednesfield town centre is nearing completion. The Council's contractors have advised that they are working towards re-opening the bridge to traffic on Friday, 7th July 2017.

The Council originally anticipated that the work to the bridge would be completed by the end of April 2017 but unfortunately during the course of the project adverse weather conditions and the identification of further structural defects resulted in the works taking longer than anticipated.

The work carried out over the last six months will extend the life of the bridge for at least another 120 years, keeping access to the town centre for future generations.

Whilst the bridge is closed to traffic the Council will make some additional improvements to the street. This includes installing new and repainting guard rail and resurfacing the traffic signal junction of Neachells Lane and the High Street. Carrying this work out now will avoid further disruption to the town centre in the future.

Localised works will continue to take place on the bridge following the 7th July opening but is anticipated to have minimal impact on traffic and pedestrian movements.

Public transport will return to normal from 7th July 2017.
